Bond Calculator
Calculate bond market price, yield to maturity (YTM), clean price, dirty price, accrued interest, and days since last coupon using institutional day-count conventions.
Bond Calculator
Please enter any four values into the fields below to calculate the remaining value of a bond. This calculator is for bonds issued/traded at the coupon date.
• Standard Mode: Solves for any 1 of 5 key bond variables (Price, Face Value, YTM, Time to Maturity, or Annual Coupon) for bonds evaluated exactly on coupon dates.
• Bond Pricing Mode: Calculates dirty invoice price, flat clean price, accrued interest, and accrued days between coupon settlement dates using institutional day-count conventions (30/360, Actual/Actual).
Standard Bond Parameters (Coupon Date)
Select which variable to solve for, or enter any four values to calculate the fifth.
$97.3270
Given the face value ($100.00), yield (6.00%), time to maturity (3.00 yrs), and annual coupon ($5.00), the price is: $97.3270.
Bond Metrics & Cash Flow Summary
Understanding Bond Pricing & Clean vs. Dirty Prices
Bonds are debt instruments paying periodic interest coupons and returning par value at maturity. When traded between coupon payment dates, understanding accrued interest and pricing conventions is essential.
Clean vs. Dirty Price
The Clean Price is the flat quoted price excluding accrued interest. The Dirty Price (invoice price) is what the buyer actually pays: Dirty Price = Clean Price + Accrued Interest.
Day-Count Conventions
Corporate and municipal bonds in the US typically use the 30/360 convention, whereas US Treasury bonds strictly use Actual/Actual to compute the exact proportion of elapsed coupon days.
Yield to Maturity (YTM)
YTM represents the total internal rate of return (IRR) anticipated on a bond if held until maturity, assuming all coupon payments are reinvested at the same rate.

Bond Calculator — Frequently Asked Questions
Q1 What is the difference between Clean Price and Dirty Price? ▾
The clean price is the flat quoted price of a bond in financial markets, excluding accrued interest. The dirty price (or invoice price) is the total amount the buyer actually pays the seller on settlement, which equals the clean price plus accrued interest since the last coupon date.
Q2 What is Yield to Maturity (YTM)? ▾
Yield to Maturity is the internal rate of return (IRR) earned by an investor who buys the bond at its current market price and holds it until maturity, assuming all coupon payments are made as scheduled and reinvested at the same yield.
Q3 What are day-count conventions (30/360 vs Actual/Actual)? ▾
Day-count conventions determine how accrued interest is calculated over a coupon period. Corporate and municipal bonds typically use 30/360 (assuming 30 days per month and 360 days per year), whereas US Treasury securities use Actual/Actual (exact calendar days).
Q4 How does coupon frequency affect bond prices? ▾
More frequent coupon payments (e.g., semi-annual or quarterly instead of annual) provide cash flows sooner to the investor, slightly increasing the present value of cash flows when discounted at identical nominal annual rates.
Q5 What happens when a bond trades at par, premium, or discount? ▾
When a bond’s market price equals its face value ($100), it trades at par (Coupon Rate = YTM). If the market price is above face value, it trades at a premium (Coupon Rate > YTM). If the market price is below face value, it trades at a discount (Coupon Rate < YTM).
