Payment Calculator — Frequently Asked Questions
Q1 How is the monthly payment computed in Fixed Term mode? ▾
The periodic payment is calculated using standard annuity amortization: PMT = P · [r(1+r)^n] / [(1+r)^n - 1], where P is the borrowed principal, r is the periodic interest rate (annual APR / 1200), and n is the total number of payments (years × 12). If the interest rate is 0%, PMT is simply P / n.
Q2 What is Negative Amortization in Fixed Payments mode? ▾
Negative amortization occurs when your monthly payment is less than or equal to the monthly interest accrual (PMT ≤ P × r). In this case, the loan balance will never decrease, and the debt will never be paid off.
Q3 How does loan term affect total interest paid? ▾
Shorter loan terms require higher monthly payments but accumulate significantly less total interest over the life of the loan. Longer loan terms lower your monthly obligation but result in much higher cumulative interest charges.
Q4 Can I export or print the full repayment schedule? ▾
Yes! You can view both Annual and Monthly amortization breakdown tables, filter by year, view the multi-line payoff progress chart, export everything as a CSV spreadsheet, or print a clean PDF report.
